Oct 2014 ...finally!

Someone visiting recently reminded me that I hadn't "blogged" in awhile - it seems the last blog was Feb - which is about when the idea of doing another project came to mind and I was wisked away into the frenzy of the studio: rehearsals, song selection, production, graphics, printing and of course I was also scheduling the summer at the same time so forgive me if it seems to have been placed on the back burner - during the summer I spent more time on Facebook ...but I back!  

This summer's bookings included the Dream Wedding for the Outer Banks Wedding Association pictured here with Leslie Erickson from Club Violin - when you don't see me at the 5pm mass at Holy Redeemer on Saturday nights, this is what I'm usually doing: a wedding.  This wedding was at the Whalehead Club in Corolla - beautiful day!

and this is another wedding with another violinist, Beth Argiro -  on the beach - I love my job! 

and for those who were a part of the Christian Music Summer Concert Series by way of donating time and talent or by donating their treasure to the love offering which was donated in turn to the Beach Food Pantry and Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO), above is a photo that recently ran in the local Outer Banks paper, the Coastland Times: Jennifer Albanesee, Exec Dir. of ICO, yours truly and Kathy McCullough-Testa, Exec Dir. of the Beach Food Pantry (just named non-profit of the year).

This was the summer we surpassed my goal of $10,000 since inception in 2009 (this was our 6th summer) - $10,732 has been split equally between the 2 charities - doing what we are called to do - give back to the community - I am honored and proud to be a member! thank you participating musicians, sponsors & supporters!!

It's alway great to see everyone when the sun is shining - if you visited the Outer Banks, thanks for brightening my summer!

the LOVE month

Yesterday at church I was reminded of Valentine's Day when I  saw the woman's group members wearing their red glittering homemade hearts..."of course I have one, it's in my desk drawer" and now it's on my desk....I'll wear it this week, maybe it will remind someone who forgot...

 I had a great road trip to Southport NC for a living room concert, and a workshop and liturgy @ St Brendan's Church in Shallotte, NC.  Great seeing friends from way back (you know who you are!) and meeting new ones - thanks to all who brought those gatherings together!
Enjoyed family time in Florida w/my folks and both my sisters - even got to watch the Super Bowl!
and another terrific weekend at the First Presbyterian Church in Auburndale - again spending time w/friends from even further back than I can remember and meeting new smiling faces at Saturday's dinner party and Sunday's service.
Next road trip is Valentine's Day Feb 14 to VA Beach for the Lighthouse Center Volunteers of America fundraiser 7pm @ Holy Family Church - see my web site calendar for more info.

twas the week before Christmas...

my neighbors are counting the number of times they see me coming and going out of the "hood"…I thought I was just as busy as everyone else but obviously not! and no I'm not ready for Christmas!

The rest of the month will find me in the Outer Banks at LIVING ROOM CONCERTS, the WHALEHEAD CLUB in Corolla, COTTON GIN in Jarvisburg, HOLY REDEEMER in Kitty Hawk & Nags Head and FIRST NIGHT WILLIAMSBURG in Williamsburg VA for New Years Eve.  January takes me to Wilmington and Sunset Beach areas for LIVING ROOM CONCERTS and a WORKSHOP/RETREAT & LITURGY.  From there I will head to FLORIDA for a week of family, friends and music.  If you are in any of these areas and would like to host a concert LIVING ROOM or CHURCH or FUNDRAISER for a cause near & dear to your heart, please contact me so I can get you on the calendar!

Summer recap

...so I've been posting to Face Book all summer - sorry to be neglecting those who are not FB followers!
The summer was, as usual, BUSY! with weddings, restaurant singing, living room concerts and the Christian Music Summer Concert Series which raised over $2000 to be donated to ICO (Interfaith Community Outreach) and our local Beach Food Pantry.  I am still singing at some local venues (see my web calendar) and will start traveling to places near and far during our off season (now thru May).  If you are interested in booking me for a LIVING ROOM CONCERT and/or CHURCH CONCERT, or SPECIAL EVENT, please contact me asap so we can get your date scheduled.
My new CD, AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS, is getting great revues from those who are listening!

May 3 & 4 good to be in Virginia!

Great time at the River Room Coffee House in Va Beach on Friday May 3!  Thank yous to all who joined me and to Ginny & Pastor Ray for the invite to be there & Jennifer for making yummy sandwiches!
The Room has different Christian acts every Friday night (sound familiar?) - check it out on the web and FB.

Saturday I was back "home" so to speak at St Olafs in Norge (outside of Williamsburg) providing music for a Women's day of reflection/workshop facilitated by Pat Bowers and Jane Moore...70 strong singing, vocal, praying women - great day!  Thank yous to Nancy, Terry, the Women's Social Group of St Olaf's and all who volunteered their time and energy.

Call to Christian Musicians for OBX Summer Series

Happy Easter to all!

Calling all/any musicians who are interested in participating in the OBX Christian Music Summer Concert Series.   This is our 5th year!  Our mission is to bring good Christian music to our locals and visitors OUTSIDE of our churches with the hope that those who don't like being in a church or who can't get to a church service can experience God and fellowship.  We take up a love offering weekly which benefits Interfaith Community Outreach (of which 50+ local church communities belong) and our Beach Food Pantry. As OBX Christian musicians we have raised $6660 since the start of this series just by doing what we are called to do: make a joyful noise!

This is a great example of God planting a seed and the "yes" blossoming into blessings for the whole community.  I hope you can join us this year to continue sharing the blessings of your ministry!

Below are the dates available.  Please let me know which date or dates will work for you and how much time you'd like. Set times will be between 15 - 45 minutes (bands will have up to 45 minutes).  

The program starts at 7pm on Mondays,  Memorial Day thru Labor Day.  I'll have equipment set up.  You'll need to have any additional heavy/large equipment set up before 7pm if I don't have what you need i.e. bass amps, keyboards, drums.

We will be at the Good Life Eatery in Kitty Hawk MP 4.5 again this year.

If you know of any musicians who you think might be interested in joining us, please let me know or share this with them.
